Logika Group launches new budgeting tool to help local councils meet net-zero targets

Air Quality Consultants |Part of Logika Group, has developed a new tool to help Local Authorities set reliable carbon budgets.
Launched this September, the Logika Local Authority Carbon Budget Tool allows all those required to conduct Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) to compare the emissions of proposed projects with credible, area-specific benchmarks.
The tool comes at a pivotal moment, with the Tyndall Centre’s widely adopted carbon budget tool being taken offline in August, preventing authorities from generating new greenhouse gas reduction plans and targets.
Recognising the importance of continuity, Logika Group used historical emissions data as a basis, allowing each Local Authority user to ‘pick up where they left off’.
Another key advantage of the Logika Local Authority Carbon Budget Tool is that it aligns with the Climate Change Committee’s (CCC’s) 7th budget report historical data and projected carbon budgets, guaranteeing user alignment with ISEP guidance.
Logika Group’s tool also aligns Local Authorities’ annual carbon journeys with the CCC’s Balanced Pathway.
“We created the tool to help UK councils reach 2050 net-zero targets”, explains Chris Whall, Managing Director at Air Quality Consultants |Part of Logika Group. “It’s a great way to put emissions into context. Developers and local authorities can compare their proposed projects against net-zero aligned budgets for their local area, helping to drive greater accountability and responsible action. We hope to support this by adding even more useful parameters, such as historic population and economics data moving forward”.
The launch comes at an exciting time for Logika Group, having recently been shortlisted as a finalist in the upcoming Lloyds British Business Excellence Awards in light of its commitment to sustainability. This follows lead placement in the Elite Business Top 100 UK SMEs earlier this year – and incredible staff growth throughout 2025.
Fully committed to protecting people and planet, Logika Group will continue expanding both its team and range of practical tools, continuing to bring the latest qualified insights to public- and private-sector stakeholders alike. From informing national and international policy to conducting pre-site assessments and assisting with planning and development, Logika Group’s holistic approach to environmental consultancy allows businesses, communities, and the environment to thrive together.
