While many global firms scale back their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) efforts, international advisory group Azets is taking a bold step in the opposite direction—intensifying its commitment to sustainability and social impact as part of its long-term strategy.

Rejecting the trend of ESG retreat, the Group has released its latest ESG impact report, Making an Impact in 2024, outlining significant achievements and ambitious goals for the years ahead. Backed by measurable progress and reinforced leadership, Azets is putting ESG at the centre of how it operates across all eight countries it serves.

“This is no time to slow down,” said Chris Horne, Group CEO at Azets. “Sustainability isn’t a checkbox – it’s our responsibility. While others step back, we’re pushing forward. Our focus is on action, not rhetoric.”

A Stronger ESG Framework: Key Highlights

Azets’ 2024 report showcases clear, strategic investment in responsible business practices, including:

  • Accelerating towards Net Zero: Cutting emissions, aligning with Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), and adopting renewable energy and waste reduction measures.

  • Reinforcing governance: Launching a double materiality assessment under the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) to better understand ESG impacts and financial risks.

  • Investing in people: Thousands of employees have enrolled in learning and development programmes such as Azets Academy (Ireland), while a new values-based leadership model fosters cultural transformation.

  • Empowering communities: Over £100,000 raised for charity, including through the Azets 4 Kids initiative, and partnerships with Access Accountancy and The King’s Trust to support underrepresented talent.

  • Integrity-led leadership: Strengthened leadership frameworks, increased accountability, and a focus on client support to embed sustainability across operations.

Driving Change in a Traditionally Static Sector

Azets acknowledges the diversity challenges inherent in the professional services sector and is tackling them head-on. The Group has made measurable progress in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), while accepting there’s more work to be done.

“We’re proud of our progress but not complacent,” said Claire Jepras, Group Chief People Officer and ESG Executive Committee lead. “The Azets Academy, expanded DEI programmes, and our leadership values are helping us build an inclusive culture where underrepresented talent can thrive.”

ESG as a Core Belief, Not a Compliance Box

Amid rising regulatory scrutiny and changing global sentiment around ESG, Azets is standing firm. The Group’s leadership sees ESG not as a regulatory checkbox, but as an essential expression of corporate conviction.

“Real leadership means stepping forward,” added Chris Horne. “We’re investing in sustainability not because we have to, but because we believe it’s the right thing to do—for our people, our clients, and our communities.”

With eyes firmly on the future, Azets is setting ambitious new goals for 2025 and beyond, aiming to lead not just with strategy, but with purpose.
